Well, it's about time - three episodes without the Todd! JD and Elliot were becoming better friends, going to movies (produced by Oprah Winfrey) and dinner (at a restaurant Oprah owns) and enjoying breakfast together when JD had Sam (they ate "Oprah-Os". When JD opened the box, Oprah - actually Whitney from payroll doing her "Oprah voice" - said "Who wants to eat some cereal?") Turk (where was he during the last episode anyway?) is applying pressure to a patient's abdomen and a fart is emitted. Turk told the patient "it's perfectly natural" and the patient responded "that was you." Cox was supervising Turk's consult and he wanted to know why. Cox said that the patients would agree to anything that a "blodletting corpse carpenter" (like Turk) would suggest and he wants to make sure the patients make the right choice (and he just doesn't trust Turk). JD noted that Kelso was still hanging out at Coffee Bucks every day. Ted finally asked him why he was spending all of his time at the place where he used to work. He said it was sad, which, by comparison, made his life "seem....sigh..still sad." Ted asked Kelso if he had anything better to do and he said he's got tons of stuff going on - he was just there to stock up on muffins before leaving on a vacation with Enid. Since Maddox was gone, Janitor was back and JD was less-than-thrilled. What was worse was that Jimmy, the overly touchy orderly was back too - and Janitor took the liberty of telling him how much JD "missed him." Uh-oh.

Scrubs - "My Saving Grace" (Episode 803)
January 15, 2009Since I've been with this site since 2006, I can't quit you, Recapist - so I'll be sticking around for a while! JD says that with all of the bureaucracy at the hospital, sometimes the doctors had to bend the rules for their patients a bit. Unfortunately, Dr. Maddox wasn't having that and was seemingly omnipresent in the halls of Sacred Heart. Jd told Elliot that all of a sudden the hospital was a police state. Elliot agreed and said that the next thing you know, they'll be charging doctors for candy at the gift shop (well, Elliot was getting her candy for free because the cashier, Johann, wanted to marry her and take her back to Estonia (which explains why he asked her if she were comfortable around oxen.) JD says he's disturbed that they can't "work the system anymore" but Cox asserts that he's been able to work around Maddox. In fact, he got a 35-year-old patient into a clinical trial with a cut-off age of 30. He asked the patient what he'd say his age was "if anyone asked" and the patient happily yelled "35!" Unfortunately, the trial was for victims of head trauma. Cox told JD he was able to give his patients top-notch care because he was simply a better doctor.

Scrubs - "My Last Words" (Episode 802)
January 8, 2009It's episode two of the "Scrubs" season premiere! Woo hoo! Maddox encountered Jordan working on one of the hospital's computers and tells her to vacate, introducing herself as the new chief of medicine. Jordan introduces herself as the "Chief of Slag Smacking" and hopes to be left alone. No such luck, as Maddox is able to zero in on a person's biggest insecurity and whispers "You're old" in Jordan's ear. That worked.

Scrubs - "My Jerks" (Episode 801)
January 8, 2009As my esteemed colleague J. Harvey recently reported, "Scrubs" is back for it's last (?) season. (If you're into spoilers, this interview with the show's creator, Bill Lawrence, sheds a bit more light as to what season eight has in store for us.) So, after a (really) long wait, the gang at Sacred Heart hospital are finally back. And they're on ABC. That's just one of the many changes we'll see in the next half-hour. We come upon JD complimenting Janitor on his new watch (actually, in a little "in joke", he points at the omnipresent ABC bug in the lower corner of the screen and says "That's new.") Janitor didn't understand why he was receiving a compliment - unless he was supposed to return the compliment about JD's "new prepubescent Miami Vice beard". JD insists that people say he looks like "a young Kenny Loggins". Well, no one really says that - except for JD, of course.

TV News Update: Future of 'Scrubs' Uncertain
January 6, 2009
ScrubsBill Lawrence, the creator of Scrubs , says he's not sure if the show will return next season or not, reports TV.com . The show is airing its eighth season on ABC as opposed to NBC and premieres tonight. Lawrence says if the show does return next season, it will be a business decision. "ABC is promoting the s--t out of Scrubs," Lawrence said. "It's very weird. It's the first time I've seen commercials for the show in seven years…The reality is, Scrubs is incredibly reasonably priced. And without Zach's salary and my salary, it's probably cheaper to make then some new shows. And it's sold into syndication, so every episode that gets produced, ABC makes $1 million or so on the back end. I don't think it'll be a creative decision."
Scrubs - "My Princess" (Episode 711 - Season Finale)
May 8, 2008J.D. fashioned a bizarre outfit for Sam out of a pillowcase because he forgot to bring clothes for him. Turk and Carla told him he had to be a more responsible parent and said they just stocked up on baby oil, lotion and diapers. The Todd came up and asked "Why? Is there a party this weekend?" and everyone froze. Apparently the gang discovered that if they all stayed completely still, The Todd would get confused and go away. Cox agreed with Turk and Carla about the need for J.D. to get Sam some clothes, but said they were becoming an annoying, two-headed know-it-all. Kelso's back (ummm...didn't he quit? Somewhow I don't think this was intended to be the season finale.) He says doctors have been violating the 12-hour work day policy, he said tired doctors make mistakes and the hospital is liable, and threatened violators with loss of a full day's pay. Elliot has a patient whom she's having trouble diagnosing. Keith (who's been non-existent since the show came back after the strike, what's going on?) was being nice to Elliot, taking a culture to the lab for her before going to lunch, which impressed J.D. Elliot said he's "alternating between angry name calling and whiny pleas to get back together." Just them, she gets a phone call from Keith, in the parking lot begging her to take him back. J.D. recalls the moment they almost kissed in the on call room and said they never talked about it. Elliot thinks J.D. made the first move. J.D. disagreed and went to talk to Cox. Two of the interns are playing "diagnosis jeopardy" in the break room. When they get an answer right, they get to gloat. J.D. says its stupid, because, as Cox assumed, J.D. never got to gloat. Cox comes home after a bad day and Jordan tells him it's his turn to tell his son a story so he used the gang from Sacred Heart. Jordan told Cox not to tell the four-year-old hospital stories, so Turk and Carla became a two-headed witch, Elliot became a princess and J.D. was the Village Idiot.

Scrubs - "My Waste of Time" (Episode 710)
May 3, 2008Since Kelso quit, Cox was made the interim chief of medicine. He's already skipping board meetings while still managing to harass Elliot. Carla asked Cox to sign a settlement form for a drug company whose product had proven harmful for diabetics. Turk overheard this and wanted to know what was harmful for diabetics. Carla said not doing the laundry like he promised was. Cox's daughter is having surgery and he's more concerned about her than the drug settle, emt and said that since the incident occured on Kelso's watch, that he should take care of it. Carla caled Kelso, whose response was just a lot of laughing. The Janitor has turned Kelso's old office into the "Brain Trust Clubhouse." The Brain Trust is made up of Janitor, Ted, The Todd and Doug. Their first order of business is to have their thrice daily meetings in the office. He claimed the office with a flag. Turk told J.D. that he stood up to Carla about the laundry incident, and then told him he was getting a testicle implant. J.D. asked if he was doing ot because his balance was off. Carla wants him to get one, so they fantasize about going to "Ball Mart" to shop for a prosthetic ball - which leads into an even more elaborate fantasy where Turk's new ball has a heater in it, which saves the day on an ice fishing excursion with J.D., Cox and The Todd. Don't ask.

Scrubs - "My Dumb Luck" (Episode 709)
April 25, 2008J.D. and Turk have to move a group of elderly patients to new rooms while the geriatric wing is being remodeled and it's taking forever. J.D. has a fantasy about moving the old folks along wuickly to the tune of "Love Train", hooking their wheelchairs together. How cute. Kelso comes up to Ted and feels up his suit, he was pretending to admire it because there were no paper towels in the mens' room. Poor Ted. The old folks were running amuck, not comprehending that they were supposed to be in the new rooms. Elliot and Carla are mad that Kelso is being forced to retire. He's mad because he wanted to end his career on his own terms. The gals try to rally the other doctors at Sacred heart to help Kelso keep his job. Turk and J.D. said they'd help, but they had something to attend to first. Cox had a patient he couldn't diagnose for 2 years - and he was back. Turk and J.D. played a little game with him called "poke the bear," where they taunted him for not being able to find out what was wrong with his patient. Their game was a success and they hugged. Ted walked up and said he needed "one of those" - not a hug, but a black friend, because he said if he had one, he's look cool. Turk said, "I should be offended, but he's right." J.D. told Ted that Kelso was being forced out, which prompted Ted to run through the halls naked. he ran out into the parking lot and right into Janitor's van. Yikes.

Scrubs - "My Manhood" (Episode 708)
April 19, 2008J.D. is attending to one of his patients, the overly-aggresive Mrs. Cropper (Mindy Sterling who played Frau Farbissina in "Austin Powers") who has a cold, but seems to be more than happy to submit to a pelvic exam. She's not the only one being aggressive at Sacred Heart, Turk's been more of an alpha male as usual, following a visit with his brother, and he's taken up the sport of "remote wrestling" in the breakroom. The Todd sees the "man rumble" and magically strips to his thing and says, "I'm next." Kelso is looking for suggestions to calm the ER patients whe it's crowded. Janitor suggests a duck pond. Kelso tells him that no one cares what he thinks. Janitor then assembles The Todd and Murphy, who also seem to be ignored. Murphy wanted Hello Kitty toe tags for the kids in the morgue - obviuosly, that idea was shut down immediately. Janitor has figured out a way to get their voices heard - a newsletter called "The Janitorial". Todd asked to be the photographer, so he could have a valid excuse for the upskirt camera attached to his shoe. Janitor needs an investigative reporter, someone "bland" and "insignificant" who can stealthily get information. Janitor failed to see that Ted was sitting next to him during the entire conversation, so he immediately got the job. Elliot has to use the facilities and, with the ladies room closed for cleaning, sneaks into the mens room. SHe sees grafitti where her butt was rated and was psyched to see that she got a 9.2. Just then she overhears Kelso on the phone talking to his wife Enid about how he's being pushed out of the hosiptal after Elliot threw him a birthday party, revealing his true age. J.D. asked Cox if his son could watch "West Side Story" in the break room to help him fall asleep. Cox agrees, as long as there's no singing and dancing along, but Turk has other ideas. He's watching the game - and the two get into a match of remote wrestling, which J.D. loses, horribly.
