Recapist To Cease Recapping

As of January 18th, 2009, many recappers will no longer be with Recapist.com. Unfortunately, this means the majority of the shows will no longer be recapped. Free content will be available on the site, but it has not been determined who will provide the content. We appreciate your dedication to the site and thank you for your support over the years.

I have loved recapist since before it became recapist and was once known as Pop Culture Junkies. I will sorely miss the humour and well-cultivated cynicism of its writers. While I've definitely enjoyed all of them, I'd be remiss if I didn't thank those who recapped my favorite shows such as Spy, Harvey, & Gemma. Thanks again Recapist aka PCJ for a great run -

Aw, thank you. Comments like this have made working here a wonderful experiece that I will sorely miss. I'm glad I could recap your show.

No, no, no, NO!

This is not news I want to hear! Where will I get my Doctor Who, Torchwood and CSI recaps?

Anyway, I want to thank all my favorite recappers, Annie, Spy, Ran Cansly, and littlebigmouth. There are others, but those are the ones I read the most. I'll miss you all very much. Good luck and please let me know if you start recapping somewhere else. :D:D

Take it back, take it back!

Recapist going defunct is the worst news I've heard since David Tennant announced the end of his run. No more Numb3rs recaps?! That is...actually worse than Numb3rs being canceled altogether. I'm sure I'd freak out a lot more except that I'm still in a numbed state of shock. I've been reading Annie, theoriginalspy and Jane St. Clair since the days of Fandom Talk, and I've come to rely on this friendly little site as a refreshing alternative to Television Without Pity. Someone tell me I'm dreaming this! Or that January 14th is the new April Fool's!

Bummer, man.

I've had a blast writing for this site, and to think it's coming to a close is just the pits. I'll post my thoughts on 'Lost' and whatever other shows I can if Michael will let me. Thanks to everyone who read, wrote, commented, participated, and told me off for being too crude and sarcastic. Big hugs to you all...

But...now what will I do for recaps *cries and clings to Recapist's leg* I loved the Doctor Who, Torchwood, Numb3rs, Life on Mars and Supernatural recaps. I always enjoyed coming here to read them.

I'm confused, why is the site going away entirely? Is it only because some of the recappers are leaving? If so, why not recruit some new ones? Or is it just that the owner doesn't want to do it any more?

You can read my explanation in my latest SVU recap. Just scroll down the main page.

I have a question. Will the site still be here, or will it go away entirely?

I just want to know if the archives of recaps will remain here?

As I understand it, the site

As I understand it, the site will remain open with some new content still being added, and all recap archives will still be here. That said, while I can't speak for the other recappers, I am busily archiving all of my recaps somewhere else just in case Recapist does eventually go dark.

what a pity

I'm sad that recappist won't be able to continue like it was before. I really enjoyed reading the summaries and the special insights and thoughts of the ones recapping the shows.
Thanks for the great work,
and also thanks to the ones who will stay as voluntaires. I know that it is much work and it is understandable if you will need longer to recap or if you will stop one time either but your work will always be appreciated!

Hey Recappers -

Thanks for all your highly amusing recaps - I only found you this year and now you are finishing up!!! *sob*

What am I going to do for procrastination from my thesis now?!? (my supervisor would think this is a blessing in disguise but that just shows how silly she is.. :P)

Thanks for all the recaps - especially those for all the CSIs, Bones, Private Practice, Greys, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Numb3rs... now you can see how much procrastination I was doing! But I can't think of a better place to do so!

We'll miss you!

how will i get by?

What am I going to do now? I'm a busy mom who doesn't get to watch much tv anymore. I relied on this site to keep me up to date on my shows. Sadness. Thanks to everyone! I read so many different shows I felt it better to thank everyone. I'll be looking for Lost thoughts on here and will try to go to Spy and Travellingone's blog. What's the address? I need recaps in my life!

How does one become a recapist? This is a job I've done for quite a while and I'd like to contribute to the site

Sure. You have to be able to spell, be funny and knock off a minimum of 1,500 words in 48 hours.
