It's kind of sad that I have seen Jer-ry and the "America's Got Talent" gang more this week than I've seen my own husband. So anyway, tonight we discover the fates of some truly talented acts, some moderately talented acts and the Zooperstars! Fortunately, after four long hours of dancing, singing, kid acts, dancing balloons and even baton twirling, I'm thankful that tonight's results show is a tight, zippy 30 minutes. Jer-ry says it's going to be an emotional night for the competitors and even the judges (I doubt that.) First up, we see the highlight reel from Tuesday night's show with the good (Queen Emily and Neal E. Boyd the not-quite-as-good (Paul Salos, who I think was awesome, The Cadence and Daniel Jens) and the ugly (of course you know who I'm referring to here.) The first ten acts take the stage to find out what America has decided.
As always, two acts face off. One stays, one goes. America picks four, the judges pick one. First up are The Wright Kids and Zooperstars! I still think they're inane, but the guys were on stage without their inflatable costumes and damn! Some of them are pretty easy on the eyes. Come back next year without the costumes and maybe we'll talk, guys. Of course, America has finally come to its senses and picked The Wright Kids. Next up are singers Neal E. Boyd and Queen Emily. Wait, one of these singers is going home tonight? They had better both be moving on. Sharon and Hoff looked shocked that they were going head-to-head. Well, worry not Queen and Neal fans, they're both moving on. The producers were just trying to spice things up. I can't believe I'm getting so emotionally involved in this. Dance troupe Extreme Dance FX and and the singing and dancing (but don't ask them to do magic) James Gang face off. Since Neal and Queen went through, both of these acts are heading home. The next two acts Jer-ry calls front and center are percussion group The Cadence and Frank Sinatra impersonator Paul Salos. Dammit, one of these acts is definitely going home. I like the little drummer boys, but I love Paul's tribute to Ol' Blue Eyes. And...Paul is moving on to the top ten. My votes counted! He is so happy and looks genuinely moved. And me? No, I'm not tearing up, I just have a little something in my eye.
Poor singers Daniel Jens and Jessica Price had to wait through the break to find out who is moving on. They came fifth and sixth, so it's up to the judges to decide. Hoff gets to go first with what he calls an "impossible decision." He adds it's not fair he has to pick just one of them. He speaks from his heart, telling Jessica that she has an amazing charisma and says that the camera loves her. He addresses Daniel, telling him that regardless of the outcome of the vote, he shouldn't go back to Iraq - and if he does go back, he should go back only to entertain. That being said, he casts his vote for Jessica. Sharon told Jessica that she was a gorgeous young girl with a great talent but doesn't know if she's can sustain a 90 minute act in Vegas - but neither can Daniel. She also votes with her heart and, "as a mum," it has to be Daniel. It's up to Piers. He thinks Jessica was disappointing in her last performance and Daniel was a "curious one." He took the chance to clarify what he had said to Daniel on Tuesday about considering re-enlistment, saying he meant that he should go back to serve his country in an honorable way. He goes with the act he genuinely believes has the talent to compete in the top ten and he says it's Jessica. I'm honestly surprised.
During the break, the acts that performed last night took the stage. Jer-ry says it's been a "long and sometimes tough road" for the acts to make it this far. What, no highlights from last night? Nope, we go right into it with hip hop dancers Sickstep and the weally winsome Kaitlyn Maher. It was an odd juxtaposition to see all of these big boys standing next to this little girl. Apparently, America didn't get the judges' subtle hints during their comments last night that maybe a four-year-old isn't ready for Vegas. I don't think Kaitlyn really processed the fact that she's made it to the top ten. She's probably just hoping to go to Baskin-Robbins after this. Donald Braswell and the Tapping Dads are called front and center. This is a hard call, since both acts have been audience favorites. My new reality show crush (since "Greatest American Dog" is over, sorry, Travis!), Donald Braswell, triumphs once again. He truly is the "Rocky" of the season. Next up are the Taubl Family and Nuttin But Stringz. Any act that goes up against these violinists who continue to amaze is screwed - and tonight, that act is the Taubl Family. It's another musical face-off between Sarah Lenore and Eli Mattson. Well, Jessica Price's major cometition is no more, as Sarah is simply no match for Eli (the expression on her face shows that she knows it too, even before Jer-ry announces it.) It's down to "hunky Elvis" Joseph Hall and baton twirler Jonathan Burkin and it's the judges' choice. Piers says this is a very difficult call as he's faced with two very different acts. He believes there's more to see from Joseph and picks him. Sharon (who has made no secret for her love of the hunky King) was somewhat addled tonight as she screamed "Jonathan! Joseph! Who's Jonathan anyway?" She ultimately chooses "Baton Boy!" That was weird. I guess living with Ozzy for so long must have rubbed off on her a little (and she has been hanging around with those "Rock of Love" gals lately as well.) It's okay Sharon, we all need a break from this. Burning love or flaming batons? It's all down to the Hoff. He tells the boys that their dreams will continue with or without the show. He tells Jonathan he has an incredible act and tells Joseph he has an amazing career ahead of him. It all comes down to who he feels can sustain an act in Vegas, and Hoff says he's gotta go with Joseph. Elvis has not yet left the building!
So, here are your top ten - Queen Emily, Neal E. Boyd, Paul Salos, the Wright Kids, Jessica Price, Kaitlyn Maher, Donald Braswell, Nuttin But Stringz, Eli Mattson and Joseph Hall. I was eight for ten - not bad! I wish I was this good in my football pool! Next week promises to be interesting. I think Nuttin But Stringz may give Neal Boyd a run for his money. The top ten face off on Wednesday. I'm going to go read a book now.
