Does anyone remember STOMP? It's alive and well this week on SIU&D, though it's aggressive style and rhythm is a bit off-putting to our dancers. It takes everybody a while to negotiate the choreography, the props, each other. Things between Miguel and Michael seem to come to a head, with Miguel bitching Michael out for having no talent, no technique. Maybe a little too much -- should they just make out already?
Mochi, Cody, Miguel, and Michael are the winning team, dancing for STOMP founder Luke Cresswell, who is the guest judge. Given an opportunity to make the music they and several STOMP cast members dance with a couple of trash can lids each, the four go crazy on stage. In the end, though, there can be only one, with Michael's hip-hop style battling Miguel's self-described "jazz funk". Miguel wins, and happily at that.
The elimination team of Janelle, Nick, Tovah, and and Oscar get push brooms. The solos aren't as dynamic as the winning team, though the bit where they throw their brooms to trade is pretty exciting. Oscar gets so into it that he breaks his broom! But his solo was kinda meh. All in all, though, it's enough to keep them going for another week.
Not so fast, Tovah. The apparent absence of her passion and spirit sends her home after what has been her last dance.
