Everybody Hates Chris: Everybody Hates Gretzky (Episode 15)

Chris is tired of being responsible for every thing Drew and Tanya do. But that doesn't mean he can give up on Drew when Drew decides to skip school so he can get Wayne Gretzky's autograph. Wayne was just on Donohue, and Drew has figured that Wayne must be at the hotel where all of Donohue's guests are usually put up. Rather than let Drew go by himself, Chris accompanies him on his journey, though he has no money, and no idea of how to find the hockey player.

While Chris and Drew head out, Julius and Tanya are at home. Tanya is home, sulking because she's missing a class trip to Philadelphia Julius was too cheap to pay for -- he gave her a package of Philadelphia cream cheese instead. Julius is trying to get some sleep. They don't get to rest when Drew's school calls to say that he isn't there. When a call to Corleone Junior High confirms Chris is missing as well, Julius gets Rochelle home while Tanya snoops in the boys' room for clues. The stash of Playpen magazine and fireworks don't tell the remaining Rocks much, so they hit the neighborhood, in a hilarious "Law & Order"-inspired montage, to interrogate everyone. They come up with nothing, so they have no choice but to call the police, who couldn't be less interested in searching for two missing boys that aren't white.

Chris and Drew find themselves first in Coney Island, where hockey legend Willie O'Ree (playing himself!) educates the boys about the NHL's few black players, and another gentleman tells them how to get to Long Island. On the way, Drew nearly loses his Gritzky jersey to a couple of white bullies, but they laugh at his jersey, another of Risky's finest. The hotel is a bust, though. The first hotel, that is. A Long Island chef who named a sandwich after Gretzky ("The Great One" -- Canadian bacon, maple syrup, and a pickle on a bun shaped like a hockey stick) works at another hotel on the Island. The second hotel has screaming Wayne Gretzky fans in the lobby, so Chris and Drew have made it.

Kind of. They still have to get upstairs, so they pretend to be pizza delivery boys. Chris figures Wayne would stay in a fancy suite, so they make for the top floor. The boys find Gretzky's room, where his bodyguard informs them that Wayne has business in the city, and won't be back for a few hours. They bond when he discovers they're from Bed-Stuy, as he's from Bed-Stuy as well: Risky even sold him a "Darryl Raspberry" jersey once. When Wayne ends up not coming back, the guard gives Drew the jersey that Wayne wore in the previous night's game, Chris a puck (it's just a puck, nothing special), and a limo to take the boys home, where a relieved but now totally incensed Rochelle is organizing a manhunt to bring her sons home.
