30 Rock: Hiatus (Episode 121)

Jesse and "Gordon"Jesse and "Gordon"Original air date: April 26, 2007

While Liz is in better shape physically than the previous year, she is overwhelmed by Floyd moving to Cleveland, the pressure of Jack and Phoebe's impending marriage (she's still suspicious of Phoebe, and not obsessed with Jack), and the fact that "The Girlie Show" season finale is fast approaching while star Tracy is still missing.

Liz relies on phone calls and video chats to keep the love alive, but they're no patch on the real thing. It's in one of these video chats that some technical glitches lead Liz and Floyd to think the other wants to break up, but they can't finish the talk when Liz is called to the hospital because Jack has had a heart attack.

Jack's blood pressure is sky high, but he feels no pain -- his May wedding to Phoebe is imminent, and as an extra treat, his mother won't be attending -- she'll be attending his ex-wife's wedding, scheduled for the same day, instead. Still, though, Mom makes an appearance, intending to meet Phoebe. Mistaking Liz for Phoebe, Mama Donaghy is disappointed when she meets the real deal -- she much prefers Liz's demeanor and child-bearing frame. Recognizing this, Jack asks Liz to accompany him, Phoebe, and Mrs. Donaghy to dinner -- yes, that includes a lobster for Liz. Lobster or no, Liz is Mama's favorite, and Mama thinks Jack is screwing up with Phoebe. Jack has two heart attacks -- one at dinner (no dessert for you!) and one in bed with Phoebe ("It's a shame no one waits for their wedding night anymore!" trills Mrs. Donaghy from the adjoining room) -- and proceeds immediately to the nearest hospital. Liz, as his emergency contact, meets him there. Though his mouth tastes like purple, Jack is lucid enough to share his only regret with Liz -- he should have worked more. What? He feels that he has that in common with Liz, and tries to give Liz some advice about spinning the Tracy situation before he passes out in a drug-induced stupor. Later, Phoebe gets to work making herself Jack's emergency contact while Mama uses the heart monitor to ask Jack the truth about his feelings for her, and his true feelings for Phoebe. When the monitor reveals that he doesn't actually love Phoebe, Jack is busted, and Phoebe is finally gone.

Tracy is hiding out, taking shelter with Kenneth's cousin Jesse. He has problems, though, with his rural Pennsylvanian surroundings -- no smoothies, he misses the goings-on in the big city, and how can he pick up on the ladies if he can't tell them he's Tracy Jordan? Before Tracy can establish contact with Kenneth, Jesse puts a stop to it -- apparently, nobody or nothing gets in the way of Tracy and Jesse, his number 1 fan/hillbilly. Kenneth, accompanied by Dot-Com and Grizz, are able to get past Jesse's ruse and rescue Tracy, who is bound and gagged on the floor of Jesse's farmhouse. They make a quick escape, though not before cousin Jesse blasts the rear window of their SUV with a shotgun. They make it back in time for the show. After the finale, Liz and Jack have a heart-to-heart in the hospital -- Jack is on the mend and, according to him, Liz is no longer doing a terrible job with the show. Aw -- lobster for everybody!
