The Black Crusaders are coming!: Tracy warns the boysThe Black Crusaders are coming!: Tracy warns the boysOriginal air date: April 19, 2007

Floyd is apartment-shopping, taking Liz along to check out a serious apartment with a serious view and an even more serious price tag. He is up for a promotion, and thinks a new hot apartment would be just the thing to go with his hot new job and his hot new girlfriend.

Unfortunately, Floyd loses the apartment (to a wealthy buyer looking for a place for his son to store his motorcycles) and the job (to a disabled minority applicant), which forces Floyd to consider whether or not New York is really for him. And whither Floyd thinks, Liz shall follow. Liz loves New York, though, and couldn't picture leaving -- it's where her job, her friends, and "The Girlie Show" are. But with the building pressures at work, and a strange man on the street spitting in her mouth, Liz cracks and accompanies Floyd on a trip to the Land of Cleve. Liz enjoys being mistaken for a model, the well-mannered hot dog customers, and lunching with Little Richard at the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame. Life back in New York, though, is compelling (if not entirely rewarding). Could Liz quit her career and stay with Floyd.

Upon returning to New York, Liz's work is never done. On a tip from Jack's assistant, Jonathan, she begins to suspect that Phoebe may not be the woman of Jack's dreams. While Jack couldn't be happier with Phoebe, he did fall asleep whilst making love to Phoebe during a lovers trip to Paris. Phoebe can't resist spilling to Liz during a girls' day out with Liz and Jenna (who reveals she wouldn't be averse to a threesome with two Jacks). But between clandestine dinners with former lovers and a British accent which might not quite be the real thing, Liz has to keep an eye on Phoebe, for Jack's sake. There are too many problems keeping Liz from joining Floyd in Cleveland, who has already found a house and accepted a job with the city's top firm. Oh blurgh.

Damn it, Lemon, why didn't you say it was the Black Crusaders?

Tracy is determined to go forward with his comeback plan, of which his doomed Thomas Jefferson was just a small part. However, Bill Cosby denigrates Tracy's career and embarrassing antics in a magazine interview. A planned comedy gig at Temple University is cancelled without explanation. And Michael McDonald won't give Tracy permission to use his songs in a cover album. Tracy suspects the work of the Black Crusaders, a bacal of powerful Black celebrities, politicians, and VIP's whose mission is to destroy the careers of those Black folks whose antics embarrass and inspire shame. His protests fall on deaf ears, as Liz doesn't believe him (and just barely misses newsman Lester Holt threatening him from the anchor desk). When Jack learns from Liz that Tracy suspects the BC, he is shocked: "Damn it, Lemon, why didn't you say it was the Black Crusaders?" Jack takes off, presumably to intercede on his behalf (maybe his ex-girlfriend Condi Rice is a member?) but it's too late -- Tracy goes on the run, and the Black Crusaders are not far behind him.
