Spencer wants to get away with Heidi, but Heidi wants to stick around to spend more time with Lauren. Even after that awful fight in last week's ep, she still thinks Lauren will come around. Really? Okay. Spencer convinces her (with much smoochage) to come to Santa Barbara.
At Teen Vogue, Whitney and Lauren are given a new assignment: assist visiting Vogue editor Lisa Howell with a shoot featuring young L.A. Whitney immediately suggests her younger sister for the job -- as long as she passes the casting process, Lisa Love reminds her, and Lauren promises to get her sister in for an interview. Back in the fashion closet, Whitney says that she's interned for Teen Vogue for five summers, and has worked countless shoots. Will Lisa Howell be as strict as someone who has worked for Anna Wintour?, they wonder. They don't wonder for long, as Howell comes in to remind them that they have to keep the kids organized, make sure the clothes are kept in order and returned in perfect condition, and that the shoot begins at 8:00 AM. Howell has this kind of stare that made me want to sit up straight and run a comb through my hair, so imagine what working for her must be like? Whitney is ready to be something other than someone's intern.
Heidi comes home to pack, and gives Lauren the news about Santa Barbara. She even makes an effort to invite Lauren, but Lauren declines. Heidi is free to go, and Lauren is free to hang with Audrina and go on a date with the single roommate of the guy Audrina is seeing. As long as it's a group thing, Lauren is fine with it.
Up in Santa Barbara, Spencer is convinced that Lauren happily spend the weekend in SB with Jason if the situation were reversed. Ah, still doing your dirty work. Back in L.A., Whitney's sister Jade is cast for the shoot, and Whitney gets ready for more interning goodness. Lauren and Audrina go out on their double date, which is dinner at NineThirty. Lauren's date is Blake, a hockey player and not much of a conversationalist. Audrina's date, however, has a story about meeting Spencer. I can't really tell if he liked Spencer or not, as Blake immediately asked if there was a dessert cart. The date seemed to end well -- Blake asked if he could see her again, though he didn't get her number. Lauren's still excited though.
Lauren and Whitney are driving to the Teen Vogue shoot when Heidi calls to make plans for that night. She's still in SB, though, so she'll meet Lauren at home after the shoot. Lauren can't quite believe Heidi isn't home yet, but doesn't have time as she and Whitney have to get to work. Before they split up for their assignments, Lauren tells Whitney about her date quickly before Lisa H. comes back. Whitney doesn't look happy to be providing pieces of double-stick tape while sister Jade has a wreath of flowers stuck to her head. Whitney wants to style, but they're just clothes at the end of the day. Whitney says she can't stay late to pack up. And though Lauren volunteers to pack up for her, I think Lisa got Whitney's message alright.
Lauren gets home to an empty apartment. Heid's left a note -- she's gone to the movies with Spencer. Laure sulks on her absurdly large couch before calling Audrina to make plans for dinner.
